For many years my HMO dentists has been telling me my teeth were fine.

But Dr. Keller showed me cracks and holes in the fillings I had received in my childhood with her oral close-up camera. She explained how in the long run my teeth were at risk of infection and even breaking. She created a treatment plan for me that involved replacing fillings and sealing 22 of my teeth (while I struggled not to laugh as I watched Bill Cosby on her personal movie glasses). I came away with greater comfort and white fillings instead of silver! And, I surely saved thousands of dollars by having preventative care rather than the deep endodontic treatment that I would have needed if I had been in less capable hands...

Wouldn’t this be a great world if we all had your wonderful care and compassion? I read in the Recorder about your great service to the 91-year old man.

Bless you.

I am not the bravest person in the world. Sitting down in a dentist chair ranks #1 on my "don’t go there" list. Between not having dental insurance and the fear factor, I thought my teeth were beyond the point of no return. Then I noticed the Sedation sign hanging on the office porch at Strong & Healthy Smiles. But how would I react, going through the door? Could I just peek at diplomas on the wall? ...meet the dentist? So I took a quick tour and met the staff. So far so good, although the smells and sounds of a dentist’s office are enough to make me tremble.

Meeting Dr. Keller made me realize that this would be a brand new experience. We talked over everything and she was able to come up with a treatment plan I could afford and actually feel comfortable with, so I could have extensive work done without that old fear factor kicking in.

The combination of up to date equipment and caring people make all the difference in the world.

Thanks.

What, me worry?

The night before my trip to the dentist I was feeling nervous. It would be a big visit; a couple of crowns and a few fillings and the part that I worried about the most ... the gingivectomy. Plus, I’d grown accustomed to my smile, and now it was going to change.

But surprisingly, when I got into the office I was calm ... not at all nervous. The staff made me comfortable in the chair with a blanket. Dr. Sue came in to give me a pill and the Oxygen mask. I got numb and nodded off. The next thing I knew, she woke me up, gave me some juice and said she was done. How much time had passed? ...10 minutes? ...an hour? Her dental assistant came in, took my impressions, then sat me in the waiting room until I was ready to be driven home. I wasn’t all cloudy feeling like I’d expected. I had half of my mouth rebuilt, and missed just one day of work. And I didn’t feel a thing! Sedation is the best way to deal with dental visits.

Now I’m enjoying my new smile thanks to Dr. Sue and her staff.

How have I benefited from sedation dentistry? In spite of regular visits to the dentist over the years, my teeth are soft, and have had lots of problems. I also have a very strong gag reflex, and going to the dentist made me feel nervous and anxious.

During my initial consultation with Dr. Keller, I discovered that I needed to have my whole mouth rebuilt; missing teeth would be replaced, decaying silver fillings would be replaced, and a chipped tooth would be repaired. In addition to having all of this work done, I also had dental implants and permanent crowns put on.

I could not have had any of this dental work done without sedation dentistry. Dr. Keller rebuilt my entire mouth with fewer than 10 sedation visits. I no longer feel nervous and anxious about going to the dentist, and my gag reflex is under control. It is amazing that you can go to the dentist, take a pill and be completely relaxed, and wake up with little memory of all that work that is done during each visit.

Now that I have my "strong and healthy smile" from Dr. Keller and her staff, I do not feel self-conscious about my teeth, and I am able to eat whatever I want without fear of my teeth breaking or chipping.

Thank you.

You made my dental experiences so painless. As you know, it had been several years since I had dental care. But while I was quite scared of having work done I was more scared of losing my teeth!

I have been so happy with the work you all did, and the results. People ask me about my smile now, and at a recent reunion I heard that I looked younger than my peers — with this head of white hair I know it’s my smile that makes the difference. In addition, I have not been plagued with daily headaches since you began to work on my teeth, so I can only assume the pain was from long ignored issues in my mouth.

I very much appreciate your willingness to work with me on the schedule. It seems as if we did years worth of work in a very short time.

I would not like to mislead anyone and suggest there was NO pain at all, but the strongest word I would use is discomfort, which frankly was just from having my mouth stretched open for so long!

Thank you again for a very comfortable experience. I’ll tell everyone about you now.

Sincerely,
S.C., Williamsburg
